Sani Pass Day Tour

Depart from Underberg and travel via Himeville and travel towards the Sani Pass, stopping at historical and view sites enroute. Become one with the mountain splendour, fauna, flora and culture will be the order of the day. After the South African border post at 1967m travel the 8 kilometers of "no mans land" and climbing 1000m in a rugged 4X4 with skilled and trained mountain guides, as you negotiate the hairpin bends with wonderfull names, such as Sucide, Grays, Ice and Reverse corner, climb sections with a 30% graidient before reaching the summit and Lesotho.

 After the border formalities travel into Lesotho to a traditional village, visit with a family, enter into the houses of these people who's time has stood still for many years. Sample the mountain bread and sip the traditional beard as your guide explains the way of life of the Hardy people's of the blanket, who live at almost 3000meters above sea level.

Return to the Sani Top Chalet - the highest pub in Africa - for lunch, thereafter decend the Sani Pass and return to Underberg

09h30 Depart from Himeville Arms Hotel travel towards the Drakensburg Mountains, stopping at view and historical sites along the way.

11h15 Border formalities before climbing 1000 meters to the Lesotho Border post, stopping at the viewsite before traveling the exciting hairpin bends with names such as Grey's corner, Ice corner, reverse corner and Big wind bend, before the summit.

12h00 border formalities before entering into Lesotho, travel about 11 kilometers to the village of Skierring, visit the home of a Basotho Family, inside once seated the guides will share the lives of these hardy mountain people.

13h30 return to the Sani Top Chalet, the highest pub in Africa  for lunch for your own account

14h45 Depart from Sani Top Chalet decend the Sani Pass and return to Himeville.

16h30 -17h00 arrive back in Himeville where the tour ends
