What to expect on route
Day 1
Depart from Underberg in a 4 wheel drive vehicle at 0900am and travel up the Sani Pass with a stop for lunch at Sani Top Chalet (the highest pub in Africa). We travel on to Black Mountain Pass. A short walk will take us to a vantage point to view Thabana Ntlenyana - the highest peak in Southern Africa at 3482m. Overnight at a Mokhotlong Hotel on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2
Depart from Mokhotlong Hotel and travel down the Tlaeeng Pass & Moteng Pass to Liphofung cave, a cultural and historical site of the San people and later, the Basotho. We continue on via Leribe (for good crafts) to Aloes Guest House, and stopping at Mamohase Guest house for lunch en route, a rural stay experience giving you a unique insight to the Basotho culture. Overnight on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis at Aloes Guest House.
Day 3
After breakfast depart for Katse Dam over the Mafika Lisiu Pass and a visit to the Interpretive Centre and a tour of the Katse Dam Wall. Overnight on a bed & breakfast basis at the Buffalo Hotel.
Day 4
An early departure from the Buffalo Hotel, takes us back towards Sani Pass, the gateway back into South Africa. We make our way to Sani Top to descend down the Sani Pass back to Underberg for a late afternoon arrival. Tour ends on arrival in Underberg.
